Swedish designer Love Hultén has launched a 400,000 SEK (Swedish crowns) Kickstarter campaign for his very beautiful and unique game console Pixel Vision.
A description of the project by journalist Thomas Berger:
Pixel Vision is a handheld console made from solid American walnut. A Raspberry Pi A+ that can emulate classic game consoles such as the Atari 2600, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance as well as the original NES and SNES powers the machine. All you have to do is supply the ROMs.
The wooden box contains 8 gigabyte of memory – sufficient to hold around 10,000 games. The rechargeable battery has power for 8-10 hours. And the screen is a 3.5-inch LCD screen – however, a custom-written graphics shader is part of the software that simulates the curved look of an old CRT monitor.
Pixel Vision will only have a production run of 500 – all hand-made. To secure one you will have to pay 3,999 SEK via Kickstarter.
